East Burke Christian Ministries

Our Mission & Vision

WHO WE ARE

East Burke Christian Ministries was an idea that got started in 1981 after three local pastors saw the need for assistance for local families. They had so many families stopping at each church for help that they needed a place and a plan on how to keep a record of who was helped and what they received. So a Baptist Pastor, Lutheran Pastor and a Methodist Pastor got together and started planning for one location for families to come to receive assistance for food, clothing, diapers, and some financial assistance. Therfore, in March 1981 East Burke Christian Ministries opened and was the first crises assistance agency to open in Eastern Burke County. It was operated by volunteers until January 1985 when a Director was hired to be in charge to keep up with client needs, record keeping, paying bills, etc. It was supported by local churches.

East Burke Christian Ministries is a small crises assistance agency located in Hildebran serving Eastern Burke County. Our main assistance is with food. We also financially with past due bills for power and rent, medicine and kerosene. You must live in the Eastern part of Burke County to be able to receive services from East Burke Christian Ministries.

Today, East Burke Christian Ministries is funded by many local churches of all faiths and receives funds from Burke County United Way, several Duke Energy Programs, and concerned individuals. With the help of all the wonderful programs, East Burke Christian Ministries has been in operation for 42 years!
